Loren Carpenter, Oscar winner and co-founder of Pixar is returning to CayFilm 2016!
For those that missed his amazing panel last year, you will have another chance to hear him talk about the early days of Pixar and computer animation. This year we will be honoring Loren by naming the Animation award after him.
Here is his bio
He is a co-founder and was the chief scientist of Pixar Animation Studios.
Loren Carpenter revolutionized the entire film industry through inventing cinema-quality digital image synthesis for animation and visual effects. In 2001 he and 2 colleagues were awarded the only Oscar statuettes ever given for computer science. Following Disney’s acquisition of Pixar, Carpenter became a Senior Research Scientist. He recently transitioned from his position in Disney/Pixar’s research division to that of a visiting scholar at the Institute for Noetic Sciences. In addition to his award-winning work in computer animation, Loren and his wife Rachel have explored new concepts in interactivity and computer art through their own company, Cinematrix, Inc.
It is a pleasure to have Loren here to present the award for the best animated film submitted this year!
